Early votes counted LAST
At least in Florida's largest counties, and in most of the rest.

Yes! Florida Counts DO NOT Include Early Votes! (PROOF!)

If you look here you can see a number of counties that allowed early voting. Note that a number of those counties are listed as having 0% of their precincts counted. We can conclude then that the results being reported by Florida right now do not include early voters.

Recall that polls show that approximately 1/3 of registered Floridians have already voted, and early voters favored Kerry approximately 51 to 43. That gives Kerry a big cushion even though the current Florida results are tilting Bush.

Some premature calculations: (Kerry's Early Voting Lead) x (30% of registered voters) - (Bush's Current Lead) x (50% of precincts reporting) = 2.4 - 2.25 = 0.15 = Kerry is actually leading!

Oh yeah, and Miami-Dade has not reported at all, but Duval is 85% done!

Florida is going blue, goddamnit!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Less than 250,000 votes tallied in Cuyahoga county (pop. 1.4 million). That county is hard core democrat.

    >GUYS! - Polling Places with the longest lines will be COUNTED LAST!!! - THINK ABOUT IT

Yeah, and those are the counties that'll go to us.  So it's GOOD for us that the larger counties are taking their time.  Who knows; maybe in many of them, voters got to vote after the official deadline because the lines were so long!  Those are Kerry voters in those long lines.

We need a name for this because it's freaking out so many people.  URBAN LAG.  We see urban lag and think it's a bad sign when really it's a good sign that so many counties haven't reported in yet.

  •  THANK YOU! (none)
I just got done posting this on an open thread. Wish all the Freepers would go home and all the nervous nellies would just go to bed and wake up to President Kerry!
  •  New Bush Spin Tactic (none)
The called states so far agree with Zogby
So, this means the pro-Bush states are the first being reported--probably as a last ditch effort to save Bush.

So, none of the big networks have proved Zogby wrong yet.

Unless and until the networks start disagreeing with Zogby, don't fall into despair.

    Remain concerned, but optimistic!

    Tue Nov 2nd, 2004 at 19:53:06 CDT

NBC just reported the new Bush spin tactic: claim that the real counts coming in are far better for Bush than the results in the exit polls.

The story on TV said that Bushmen claim their comparison shows them doing far better in Florida, Virginia, and South Carolina.  Some mumbo-jumbo about the proportion of women and their true preference being misunderestimated.

This sounds, of course, entirely made up....

I bet that is the idea from the distorted partial counts most of the networks are rotating through on the bottom of the screen..

  •  People are stll in line in Ohio (none)
The polls in Ohio stay open in precincts where people are still in line waiting to vote. Saw a live shot a few minutes ago of an African-American precinct in Ohio where they've estimated that the line will go for 3-4 hours.

  •  They are trying to win the election by faith alone (none)
They are trying to win the election doing what they did the last four year: By wishing it.

Don't forget, Bushies may wish it that all the exit polls were wrong and the votes favor BC 04, but that doesn't make it so

Well, It looks to me this isn't going to be over tonight. Ohio has people voting at 11pm. The lines were so long. These are Kerry voters. The same process is occuring in Florida. We have all been reading about the provisional ballot voters. Quite a few of them are democrats.
Freaking out now is premature, to say the least. Let the freepers lose sleep about this. There is a good reason the dem's feel so confident and the Fox anchor people are so bummed.
    Keep the faith. Be patient.

ACLU sues over late absentee ballots

      By TIM REYNOLDS
      ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

MIAMI -- Absentee ballots mailed by Florida elections supervisors too late for possibly thousands of voters to return them on time should still count, the American Civil Liberties Union argued in a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday.

The suit, filed against Secretary of State Glenda Hood and elections supervisors in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, asks that completed absentee ballots mailed in the United States that arrive at county offices before Nov. 12 be counted. State law required those ballots to reach county offices by Tuesday night.

The Nov. 12 deadline would be the same standard applied to absentee ballots filed by voters who are out of the country.

"These are not people who filed their request for an absentee ballot late," said Howard Simon, executive director of the ACLU of Florida. "These are people who filed it well in advance of the deadline and some of them just got their absentee ballot (Tuesday) - effectively preventing them from participating in today's election."

Broward County officials dropped off more than 2,500 absentee ballots to a U.S. Postal Service distribution center Saturday afternoon, meaning they could not be delivered to residents - some of whom said they requested the ballots more than a month ago - before Monday.

In Palm Beach County, more than 5,500 ballots were put in the mail Saturday. That county office, however, is not part of the ACLU's lawsuit. Simon said Broward and Miami-Dade offices were targeted in the suit because residents of those areas complained about the delays in receiving their ballots. He did not have any specific details about delays in Miami-Dade.

An ACLU lawsuit against state officials or Gov. Jeb Bush isn't unusual. The group previously sued the state seeking better recount guidelines, maintains that problems with the 2002 primary elections hurt minority voters, and sued Bush over his order that a brain-damaged woman be kept alive over her husband's objections.

"Canadian geese migrate south in the winter. The ACLU sued the state of Florida on Election Day," the governor said. "No big deal."

Simon said he believes that if the injunction is granted, Hood - the state's chief overseer of elections - would have to order that all absentee ballots arriving before Nov. 12 at any county elections office count.

"This is the fault of negligence of elections officials," Simon said, "not the lethargy of voters."

Which poll was lying ? The 72 hrs before the election or the one 24-0 hrs before the election ?

Gallup called Bush by 7% over Gore until the day of the election, And they were still off by more than the margin of error on election day

    •  Karen Hughes only speaks when there is a reason (none)
Karen Hughes came out on CBS and basically said they won, and won Ohio

They did this to preempt the coming fact that Ohio Is close

This way, they will protest, say they won, their fans think they won, and
lead groundwork to do what they did in 2000

Be very careful of what she did.

This whole night sucks. Time for blame tommorrow if they do this.

Karen Hughes only speaks when there is a reason

If we win Ohio, we win.
