Meet Roger and Ellen:
They are my parents. And I am proud to say that they voted from Lamont yesterday. And I couldn't be prouder of them.
I'm confused... according to Joe and CW, they should be foaming at the mouth, madly typing on blogs and plotting the destruction of the Democratic party. But if you look at the picture - they are pretty "normal".
Go beyond the flip to learn more and to celebrate all the hard working people in CT who voted for Ned yesterday.
My parents were registered Republicans for a long time. In fact I didn't even know they changed their affiliation to vote in the Dem primary this year. My dad was of the Lowell Weicker, fiscal conservative bent of Republican. He slowly came over to the Democrats during the Bush Sr.'s administration. He saw the fundamentalists take over and dad bolted. My mom tends to just vote whatever my dad votes.
My parents are hard working people who have their own business. They aren't political junkies like me. They wouldn't know what a blog was if it bit them on the ass. I'd only sent them a couple of emails regarding Ned Lamont because I didn't want to pressure them. But I never heard how they would vote. So imagine my shock when dad told me that they both voted for Lamont.
Dad based his vote mostly on the war. And he fears that we will be stuck in the Israel/Lebanon conflict as well.
Joe Lieberman and the White house risk alientating a lot of Lieberman democrats and independents if they keep on insisting that Lieberman lost because of the rabid left. Does my mother look rabid to you?
They can try to smear the people who took time out on an August day to exercise their right to vote, but it'll backfire quickly and I hope strongly. Insulting the intelligence and earnestness of people like my parents is a tactic that is bound to fail.
Use this diary as a place to do shoutouts to other CT residents who took the time to vote for change yesterday.
