My comment on a kos thread last night

But of course where there's Oil... There's corrupt Texas Oil companies.

Now we just need to keep connecting the dots until we reach Bush & Dick...

Well, it happened soone than anyone could guess: today, less than 24 hours later:

a Senate committee report found that US oil purchases accounted for 52 per cent of kickbacks paid to the regime in return for sales of cheap oil under the UN's food for oil programme - more than the rest of the world put together.

So let's recap the evidence pointing to Bush / Dick involvement on Oil for Food
1 - Cheney, Halliburton Helped Saddam Fleece Oil for Food scandal published on 10/2004 and before
2 - Houston Company Described as "Puppeteer" in Iraq Oil-For-Food Corruption scandal published on 5/16/2005
3 - Bush 'turned blind eye to Iraq deals' scandal published on 5/17/2005

Does anyone still wonder why Kofi Annan was cleared of wrongdoing on the Oil for Food scandal and all of a sudden Repugs went silent on the story ?

George Galloway arrived in Washington today to rebuff accusations that he profited from Iraqi oil sales as a Senate investigation found that the US government turned a blind eye to millions of dollars of sanctions busting.

The Bush administration knew about the illegal oil sales and kickbacks to Saddam Hussein's regime but did nothing about them, according to a report from Democrats on a Senate committee.

The Bush administration knew about the illegal oil sales and kickbacks to Saddam Hussein's regime but did nothing about them, according to a report from Democrats on a Senate committee.

The report found that US oil purchases accounted for 52 per cent of kickbacks paid to the regime in return for sales of cheap oil under the UN's food for oil programme - more than the rest of the world put together.

The scale of the shipments is understood to dwarf those alleged to have been made by UN staff and European politicians such as Galloway and the former French minister Charles Pasqua.

Mr Galloway, the newlyelected MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, has demanded an apology from the Senate subcommittee-which has named him as a beneficiary of Iraqi oil allocations. Mr Galloway, who overturned a 10,000 majority to win the seat for the anti-war Respect party, arrived in Washington yesterday and immediately demanded an apology from the subcommittee for what he called their "schoolboy dossier" against him. He said: "It was full of holes, full of falsehoods and full of value judgments that are apparently only shared here in Washington. [A polite way to say that this is only true in Bushianity's la-la land... -- law]

"I have no expectation of justice. I come not as the accused but as the accuser. I am going to show just how absurd this report is."

The new report accuses the Bush government of failing to take action against a Texas oil company which facilitated payments of "at least $37 million in illegal surcharges to the Hussein regime".

It also states that the State Department and the US military agreed to the shipment of nearly eight million barrels of oil bought by Jordan outside the Oil For Food programme.

It was not clear whether the Democrats' report would be accepted by the Republicans on the committee. The Pentagon declined to comment.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    •  Galloway was on CNN minutes ago ripping (none)
the panel, this administration's policy in Iraq, the neocons, etc. etc.  He was awesome!

I actually stumbled onto it and he just gave a blistering magnificent statement admonishing the Senators and administration for this mess in Iraq.  There are a few other diaries popping up now on the senate investigation underway.

Your diary is great for background information on what is sure to be a story dominating the news today!

  •  BayOil and GOPUSA connection? (none)
I seem to recall that Georgia 10 and E Pluribus Media connected these two entities (wrt gannon and Bobbie Eberle).  So now BayOil is part of the Iraq Oil-for-Food money-laundering and stealing scheme?  Anyone else remember this connection?
