Who knows what evil lurks in the plates men carry?
"One of the police officers said, 'Drop that plate right now,' as if I were carrying a weapon," said Abbott, who runs a nonprofit group called Love Thy Neighbor, Inc. "It's man's inhumanity to man is all it is."
Only the Fort Launderdale police know, as they continue their fight against shadowy villians of the Sabbath...
Fort Lauderdale police charged three men -- including two pastors and a 90-year-old man -- for feeding the homeless in public on Sunday...
FPD fought vainly against such terrors of the street a decade and a half ago...
In 1999, the city tried to stop Abbott from feeding the homeless on Fort Lauderdale Beach, prompting a lawsuit from Abbott, which he won.
But now THE LAW (taken from certain Holy Scriptures suggesting starvation as suitable punishment for being homeless, no doubt) is on their side:
...a new ordinance effectively banning public food sharings took effect Friday.
Is it truely possible to legislate away breaking bread with your fellow human?
"Im going to have to go to court again and sue the city of Fort Lauderdale..." said Abbott. "These are the poorest of the poor, they have nothing, they don't have a roof over their heads. How do you turn them away?... "
Or will the ordinance be superseded by Abbott's Law?
"Any human has the right to help his fellow man."
It's something people half the age of Mr. Abbott might want to think about.

At least four police cruisers and a half dozen uniformed cops were ready and waiting for Love Thy Neighbor when the group showed up at its spot adjacent to Stranahan Park as it does every Sunday at 1pm, in a white van armed with trays of hot food. The group's 90-year old founder, Arnold Abbot, previously had announced that Ft. Lauderdale's new ordinance would not deter him from sharing food as he's done for the past 23 years.

With the passing of a new “sharing ban” regulation, the City of Fort Lauderdale has fulfilled its regime of “Homeless Hate Laws” along with new restrictions of going to the bathroom in public, panhandling, storage on public property, and camping. It joins 21 other cities that have created laws to restrict food sharings in the last 2 years.
As part of the #resisthomelesshatelaws week of action beginning 10.31 we are calling on the internet to assist! We need everyone to make phone calls, send e-mails, tweets, and anything else to the powers responsible for this stupidity on Monday to let them know this won’t stand.
It is possible, but not for certain, the food sharers will be ticketed or arrested over the preceding weekend. We want to let Fort Lauderdale know even considering such a thing is unacceptable!
